NYFW
New York Fashion Week.
It’s kind of as crazy as it sounds.
An opportunity to assist Seiji, a renowned stylist with The Wall Group, on a presentation for the label Joyrich popped up and I thought about it for about 2 seconds before I decided to head out.
I packed my bag full of every tool I own except the one that has been taking up space in my bag for years and I never use. The one I would end up needing. The curling iron the size of my pinky. Go me.
We ended up styling the models with a fun harajuku look that complemented Joyrich’s funky style perfectly – open end spiral curls, a few extensions, and a couple of pigtails. I am cringing typing that last word – pigtails. There has to be a better word. Anyone know how to say pigtails in French? I bet it sounds expensive and fashionable.
MVP’s for me backstage were the T3 Featherlite Luxe Hairdryer, Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray, Oribe Superfine Hairspray, and the curling iron I didn’t have. Here’s why:
T3 Featherweight Luxe 2i Dryer: I love so much about this dryer. It’s lightweight, ionic, and powerful. I used it to smooth naturally curly girls hair up into ponytails, and also on a low heat setting to loosen up texture. The ionic capability helped me achieve this while maintaining the integrity of the curls without creating frizz. Peeps with frizzy hair: this is HUGE!
Oribe Dry: For the show I sprayed a bit of this at the roots to help direct hair and give it texture + grip. It instantly gave soft hair a boost. This stuff is a staple in my kit acting as a volumizer, dry shampoo, re-styler. I don’t know what I ever did without it.
Oribe Superfine Hairspray: The perfect amount of flexible hold helped sculpt and polish curls, while adding a veil of reflective shine.
Overall, New York was so full of inspiration, yet completely devoid of a reasonable temperature. It was on another level of cold. Level Siberia. I bundled up so hard. I wanted leg warmers, goggles. All of the things people who didn’t give a shit were wearing. At least they were warm.

Hi!
My mom is a hair stylist and wants a new bag for work. What brand do you recommend? Bags are tricky because of all the little pockets for each tool so I really need advice. Thanks 🙂
